Biography:
Simon Baz is a Lebanese-American character who debuted as a Green Lantern in DC Comics in 2012. Prior to becoming a Green Lantern, Simon was a car thief in Detroit. Wrongfully accused of terrorism after stealing a van rigged with explosives, Simon's will to survive and prove his innocence attracted the attention of the Green Lantern Corps.
Two damaged power rings, belonging to Hal Jordan and Sinestro, fused together and sought him out, granting him the powers of a Green Lantern. His ring is unique in that it contains a failsafe, rendering him immune to Green Lantern power drains.
Initially distrusted by many due to his past and the circumstances of his ring's creation, Simon has gradually proven himself to be a capable and dedicated member of the Corps. He is often partnered with Jessica Cruz, forming a close bond and facing shared anxieties about their responsibilities. Simon's strong sense of justice and empathy, rooted in his experiences with prejudice and wrongful accusation, drive his commitment to protecting others.
